What reversing does

Every frame of a GIF is decoded to the full picture you see (GIFs often store only the part that changed), the order is flipped, and the GIF is rebuilt with each frame keeping its own delay. Because frames are decoded fully first, reversed GIFs don’t leave smears or ghost images, a common problem with tools that just reorder the stored pieces.

Questions

How do I reverse a GIF?

Drop the GIF in. "Play backwards" is already ticked, so the result plays in reverse, with each frame keeping its own timing.

Can I make a GIF play forward and then backward (boomerang)?

Not yet in one step. Reverse it here, then join the two in an editor. A boomerang option is on our list.

Will reversing reduce quality?

The frames are re-encoded with a quality guard, so the result stays very close to the original. You can see the score under the result.

Is my GIF uploaded?

No. It’s processed in your browser.
