KB

Output is JPG, the format upload forms accept. Quality is kept as high as the size allows; the image is only made smaller if it has to be.

What 100 KB is usually for

  • Document photos and ID scans on government and university portals
  • Email attachments and website thumbnails

How it gets under 100 KB

JPEG quality is searched from high to low until the file fits, so you get the highest quality under the limit, not a guess. If the picture is so large that even the lowest quality is too big, it is scaled down just enough, with a sharp filter. Transparent areas become white, since JPG has no transparency and forms expect a white background.

Other sizes: 20 KB, 50 KB, 200 KB. Any size: the image compressor has an "Under a size" mode.

Questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Drop your JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF image. The size is already set to 100 KB; you get a JPG under that size, at the highest quality that fits.

Will the image be resized?

Only if it has to be. The tool first lowers JPEG quality step by step; if even the lowest quality is over 100 KB, it scales the image down just enough to fit.

Is 100 KB the same as 100000 bytes?

Here, yes, and the output stays under 100000 bytes. That’s the stricter reading, so it also passes forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.

Does it need exact pixel dimensions too?

Many forms also ask for a size in pixels or centimetres. Check the form’s instructions; resize first if needed, then compress here.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, which matters for ID documents and signatures.
