About AVIF
AVIF images are smaller than JPEG at the same quality, which is why websites use them. When you save one, you often get a file your photo app, editor or upload form won’t take. This converter decodes the AVIF on your device and re-encodes it with MozJPEG, then shows how close the JPG is to the original.
Drop one or more .avif files. JPEG is already selected as the output; download each file or all of them as a ZIP.
Why can’t I open AVIF files?
AVIF is a newer, very efficient format. Recent browsers show it, but many older apps, editors and upload forms don’t accept it yet. JPEG works everywhere.
What about transparency?
JPEG can’t store transparency. If your AVIF has a transparent background, use AVIF to PNG instead.
