How it gets your PDF under 1 MB

Most large PDFs are large because of the pictures inside: scanned pages, photos and certificates stored as JPEG images. The tool finds those images, re-compresses them a step at a time, and saves the PDF after each step until the whole file is under 1 MB. If quality alone isn’t enough, it scales the images down a little. Text, lines and fonts are left exactly as they are.

Tips

  • Scanned at a very high resolution? The tool scales images down only if it has to, so documents usually stay readable.
  • Several separate scans? Compress each one, or keep the most important pages if the form limit is very small.
